GABRIELLE LOUISE AND BAND TO PERFORM BIRTHDAY CONCERT AT BLUE SAGE CENTER FOR THE ARTS

PAONIA, CO - Appearing at Blue Sage Center for the Arts on Sat, May 16th at 7:00pm is luscious vocalist and songwriter, Gabrielle Louise. Join her for a birthday bash concert with a full band! Of her original music and performance David McGee, New York City music critic and previous editor for Rolling Stone, has said: "She executes a captivating balance of heartache and resolve." Since graduating Berklee College of Music in 2007, Gabrielle has toured extensively throughout the United States and released several records, the most recent of which is called "The Bird in my Chest" and is accompanied by a book of original short stories and poems. For this special concert, Gabrielle will be celebrating her 30th birthday and accompanied by a trio of very special musicians. Multi-instrumentalist David Kaye of Redding, CT will join playing the banjo, dobro, and electric guitar, Justin Thompson of Albuquerque, NM performs with Gabrielle on bass, mandolin, and harmony vocals, and percussionist Jonathan Sadler (Gabrielle's brother) will offer a unique percussion sound-scape with the cajon, marimba and tabla.

Known for her poignant lyrics and rich voice, Gabrielle is anchored deeply in folk but undeniably drawn to rich harmonies and melodic adventurism. Her sound has the earthy feel of early Joni Mitchell mixed with the spirited delivery of the genre-hopping Martin Sexton. Unafraid to take a random musical escapade in the name of inspiration, Gabrielle is at one moment folkie and ethereal, the next moment a smoky jazz chanteuse. She enchants and entertains, weaving stories and banter into her set seamlessly. You can stream Gabrielle's latest record in full at http://gabriellelouise.bandcamp.com/album/the-bird-in-my-chest.

Dave Kaye supports Gabrielle's songs with his tasteful accompaniment on dobro, banjo, and electric guitar. David's resume includes a wide variety of session work, writing, production, pit orchestra performance, and education. He performs frequently as an active member of the New York-area roots and bluegrass music scene. David attended Berklee College of Music where he studied Music Production & Engineering. He and Gabrielle met in college where they performed old folk songs several days a week at an Irish pub in Cambridge.

In addition to supporting Gabrielle on the bass guitar, Justin Thompson will open the show with a set of his original songs. With an instinctive knack for melody and prose, Justin's compositions are as singable and energetic as they are rich in content. His songs have drawn comparisons to John Prine and Leonard Cohen. And when it comes to duets, Justin blends with Gabrielle's style to create a distinctive sound and an undeniable consonance.

Gabrielle's brother Jonathan Sadler hails from Fort Collins, CO. He performs there regularly with his instrumental project, More Than Physics, an ambient melodic percussion group. Their recent debut release, Predictions, was received with rave reviews. Jonathan's enlightened creativity and rhythmic precision lend themselves well to any musical project, but most especially resonate here, with his sister's compositions. The two performed together regularly growing up, but this series of shows marks the first of their adult collaborations.

The Blue Sage Center for the Arts is located 226 Grand Ave in Paonia, CO. Advance tickets are available in person at The Blue Sage, Backcountry Coffee, or online at www.gabriellelouise.com.
