Gabrielle Louise’s “Give Where You Live” Holiday Concert and CD Release

Christmas Concert Honors Local Volunteer Organizations

Paonia, CO, November 20, 2017:  The Paradise Theatre is pleased to welcome singer, songwriter Gabrielle Louise for a Holiday Concert on December 23rd at 7:30pm.  This is a very unique event because not only will it be a beautiful musical concert, it also will recognize and honor some local nonprofit organizations who contribute to our community, celebrating the Season of Giving. For this special evening, Gabrielle Louise and her band will be performing original and interpreted songs that highlight the importance of volunteer organizations in our community, and the impact they make to our quality of life. Concert ticket sales benefit the Friends of the Paradise Theatre.

Gabrielle Louise will also be releasing her most recent recording, Live at Etown Hall, and will be donating a portion of its proceeds to the causes recognized in the show. Recorded last holiday season in Boulder, Live at Etown Hall features 14 concert tracks supported by a roster of the southwest’s finest musicians, including Greg Schochet, Brodie Kinder, Melanie Jean, Jon McMillian, and Jonathan Sadler.  The record couples the spirit and charm of a live performance with the careful orchestration and production of a studio record. It features live favorites of Gabrielle’s original material as well as some carefully selected covers by Mark Knopfler, Justin Evan Thompson, and James Keelaghan. 50% of CD sales will be donated to nonprofits working for causes she loves in the North Fork Valley.

Prior to the concert, starting at 6pm, there will be a reception where audience participants can socialize with local nonprofits and learn about current projects and issues. Gabrielle Louise and her band, composed of Melanie Jean on bass, Justin Thompson on Telecaster, and Greg Schochet on Mandolin, will weave the stories of our local issues into the music.

Gabrielle Louise is a nationally touring troubadour noted for her poignant lyrics and lush voice. The daughter of two vagabond musicians, Gabrielle inherited the predisposition to wanderlust and song.  Her music is anchored deeply in folk and Americana, but undeniably drawn to rich harmonies and melodic adventurism. Her sound has the earthy feel of early Joni Mitchell while also veering into the spirited and versatile delivery of fellow genre-hopping artist Eva Cassidy. Unafraid to take a musical escapade in the name of inspiration, Gabrielle is at one moment folkie and ethereal, the next a smoky jazz chanteuse.

Known for her authenticity and candor on stage, Gabrielle's performances are notably present and sincere, a professional presentation of her private creative world. Her story-telling and banter envelopes and enchants, gently enticing her listener to release their grip on the status quo. Perhaps because of this quality, Louise has been entrusted to share the stage with greats such as Richie Havens, Tom Paxton, Joan Osborne, Eliza Gilkyson, and Guy Clark.

The Friends of the Paradise Theatre has received a $2500 grant from the Bohemian Foundation for this special event.  Based in Fort Collins, Colorado, Bohemian Foundation is a private family foundation that supports local, national, and global efforts to build strong communities.  Founded in 2001 by philanthropist Pat Stryker, Bohemian Foundation takes its name and inspiration from the bohemian movement of 19th century Europe. The Bohemian Foundation’s Music Programs build connections by providing music-related resources for enjoyment, personal expression, and the development and improvement of music-related talent.
