Yes, hello from Brisbane, California, where I'm hunkering down for a day in a house on a hill overlooking the bay. You have to walk down a hundred rickety old stairs to get to the front door!
Touring this month (in a co-bill tour called Inglish & Louise) with Miss Erin Inglish has been a real joy--we're having a blast creating a little act together, bringing in songs from long lost places and writing new ones for the show.
We've been to the southwest, the rockies, and the west coast. We've whipped up obscenely large batches of home-made chai tea for all the long distance drives and then had to pee like horses on vast, empty stretches of interstate. We've been discended upon by a herd of wild boars in the pitch dark of New Mexican mountains. And we've wandered the extensive gardens of California healer Malinda Forbes to learn about herbs like Monk Pepper and Rosemerry and Love in a Mist.
It would seem that even more sensational adventures await, because tomorrow we cross the country and will land in New York City for a whole new variety of expierences. Please join us when you can, we promise to make a joyful sound! A full concert listing, including a schlew of dates emerging for October, is posted at my website.
For the Brokenhearted is still forthcoming. I'd love for you to take a listen to another rough mix of a song called "When Satan Saw Inside The Cradle" which I've posted at my blog. My fingers are oh-so-crossed to get the record out this fall.
So I'll send you off with a videos that were filmed live this month! The song is called "Helplessly Hoping" and is a Crosby, Stills, & Nash cover. We met Kendra Mckinley about 48 hours ago when she opened for us at the Abby Lounge in Santa Cruz and have fallen very much in love with her and her beautiful voice!
We'd like to say a heartfelt thanks to our hosts along the way so far - Ashleigh and Jeff Curry, Catherine Wanek, The Leon Team, David Hardy and Tonya Bokat, Louis and the Lestat's Team, Bob Stane, Kendra McKinley, The Inglish Family, and the Forrestal family.
See you soon!
