Blame Sally, Up for a Grammy!

I'm super excited to be playing with Blame Sally again. Catch them before it costs a fortune! Check out their fab website, too.
Megan Slankard Acoustic Band

You all should remember this lovely lady that I paired up with last Spring in Denver, right? Well now we're teaming up in her neck of the woods, and we can't wait to see her expressive on-stage faces and hear her acoustic band. Take a little refresher course at the Megan Slankard myspace to remember why we love her so damn much.

Hello Friends!
An abundance of news from the road! We have had a crazy, eventful national Fall tour so far, and we're not done yet! Oh, no. California, here we come. Major gratitude to those so far that have booked us, recorded us, lodged us, bought CD's, signed up for the list, given us encouragement, packed us a lunch, made us dinner, or played tunes with us under the moon. If you think we're talking about you, we are. So many lovely people have made this possible, and you are appreciated.
Highlights from our East Coast tour include playing chess in the woods of Vermont, swimming in the beautiful Lake Laconia in New Hampshire, and eating fresh blueberries from Isobel's organic blueberry fields. We did some recording in New York City that we're excited about, as well as played a string of shows in the metro area, including a fabulous return engagement at The Hillside Cafe in Nutley, NJ. Chris Garre captured a nice clip of Strange Summer Snow that I'd like to share with you. I was inspired to write this song by a Walt Whitman Poem.
The particular excerpt of Song of Myself is as follows:
The spotted hawk swoops by and accuses me... he complains of my gab and my loitering.
I too am not a bit tamed … I too am untranslatable, I sound my barbaric yawp over the roofs of the world.
The last scud of day holds back for me, It flings my likeness after the rest and true as any on the shadowed wilds, It coaxes me to the vapor and the dusk.
I depart as air …. I shake my white locks at the runaway sun, I effuse my flesh in eddies and drift it in lacy jags. I bequeath myself to the dirt to grow from the grass I love, If you want me again look for me under your boot-soles.
You will hardly know who I am or what I mean, But I shall be good health to you nevertheless, And filter and fibre your blood.
Failing to fetch me at first keep encouraged, Missing me one place search another, I stop some where waiting for you

Concerning the craftier side of life, we've started making some neat CD cases out of recycled clothing. We're happy to offer an (almost) plastic-free version of our records. There's not too much we can do about the CD, but we've sewn cases out of cool thrift store fabrics, and paper inserts placed inside. Right now we're just offering this option for the Live in Coal Creek CD, as a pilot concept. If it's a hit, we'll start offering it for the other records too. Got some old clothes or drapes that you've been meaning to take to Goodwill? We're looking for interesting textures and patterns. Send 'em our way and we'll make cases out of them, and ship you a free CD and case as a thank you.

Last month David and I had a great time playing live on the KGNU Kabaret hour in Boulder. They've recently put an archive of the show up on their site, so tune in now, or any time, by clicking on the image link below. Thanks to Postman Roger and George Figgs for having us on the show! KGNU is our Colorado jem.

I'll sign off with a few photo credits. We were psyched to work again with Daren Mahuron of Summit Studios in Fort Collins, CO. The photo at the top of this mailer is the product of his fantastic artistic eye. David and I are excited to finally have a professional promo shot of our duo show! My hair was done by Mackenzie Morrison.
The live photos on the left column were captured just the other night by Jim Farnham in Salt Lake City, Utah. We appreciate him being at the show and bringing his camera along!
See you in some town in the near future! Many thanks for your continued support of homegrown music,
xxoo,
Gabrielle Louise et Co.
