I'm writing you all from the mountains of Montana at two in the morning. There is a raging blizzard outside the cabin window, and as I prepare to tell you about my upcoming tour this week, I wonder if I'll even make it there?!?
The plan is for David and I to pile all our S*^* in the Veg Van, (Poll: what should we name her? Send me an e-mail with your ideas! Really! The winner gets a free CD of their choice!) and head to Indiana, Kansas, and Nebraska this week. If you live in Wichita, I highly recommend coming to see our show with local Americana duo Elliot Road. We're also excited to be making return stops in El Dorado, KS and Bloomington, IN to play house concerts...and don't overlook the Bieroc Cafe in McCook, NE. For full schedule visit www.gabriellelouise.org/tour.
Our concert at Denver's Walnut Room last week was a great success! Thanks so much for coming down! Local dancers joined us onstage for a Tango feast. I encourage you to check out the video of our grand finale, Leonard Cohen's "Take This Waltz." Special guests Megan Slankard and Kailin Yong (Boulder Acoustic Society) joined David and I on the music end of things. Dancers Ellen Yong, Jess Rodriguez, Ariel Cado and Dave Jones spice up the stage.
Upcoming featured Colorado performances include The Paradise Theatre in Paonia, CO on May 9th. I'll be teaming up with Sweet Sunny South's Bill Powers to Co-Bill this amazing venue. You see, Bill and I both adore Mr. Ryan Dricky, the six foot something hard working fiddle player of the Rockies, and Ryan will be joining us on both our sets. You can expect three part harmonies and the folky/Americana side of me for this show. I'm truly thrilled to be returning to Paonia again after a fabulous time at last year's Mountain Harvest Music Festival!
If you're a Denver-ite wondering when our next local show will be, prep yourself for an intimate house concert with Carol Moris' by making reservations with her pronto. Only 30 seats available! Info on the left. If intimate kinda freaks you out a little bit, come to the June 28th Oriental Theatre show presented by Strings and Wood. No chance of awkward eye contact at this 600 seat theatre!
Oh, and tonight I recommend giving this Indian Dal recipe a shot. David taught me, and it's delish. (Warning: farting may occur after consumption of delectable lentils.)
P.S. The Veginator, Regina Ballerina, Vegiqua (kinda like Shaniqua?), Vegina, (kind like...just kidding)...No seriously! Help me! E-mail me your ideas! Now!
