Hello GL Friends!
Well, well, The winter tour has wound down, and I'm back at home for a few fleeting days. We've learned an awful lot about running on veggie in the winter, seen some amazing scenery from the towering pines of the pacific northwest to the red sandstone slot canyons of Utah, and met some of the most colorful characters imaginable. Oh right, and we sat in a fair number of hot springs along the way.
You can see some of our tour photos by visiting the website, myspace, or the new Gabrielle Louise Show page on Facebook... I just created it. It'll get fancier and fancier, so be sure to come back for updates.
A handful of our performances were video taped. The footage from Mystic Hot Springs in Utah came out especially nice...Go, Mystic, Mike! I've just remodeled the Gabrielle Louise Show video gallery. Check it, yo. Just click on the image.
Upcoming featured performances include Oskar Blues Pub and Brew this Sunday (Lyons, CO), The Walnut Room on Sunday, April 4th (Denver, CO)
and an entire tour to the Midwest at the end of next month. Check out the details on the left, or the full calendar at www.gabriellelouise.org/tour
We survived a brief breakdown in Columbus, MT during the February tour...on account of extremely cold temperatures. Determined to make our gig that night, we rigged the van with wires and switches that manually told the fuel pump to supply fuel to the engine! What a fantastic experience to really get familiar with our tour van! We also learned that burning veggie (in addition to being carbon neutral) can releases as much as 50% less emissions into the atmosphere. As you can imagine, we collected a lot of video footage from our adventures this time around, so look out for a tour vlog/veggie info vid once we get around to editing that down.
In other news, there have been a few press articles published about my act this month. David McGee, who has written for Rolling Stone, Spin, and is the country music editor for Barnes and Noble.com, has published an extensive review of my most recent studio record, Cigarettes for Sentiments. You can read his article at www.thebluegrasspecial.com.
There is also an article highlighting our incorporation of tango dancing into live shows, published by Singer&Musician.
Since we are now beginning to craft our courses for summer touring, any recommendations for venues would be highly appreciated. I have just updated my virtual press kit at www.gabriellelouise.org/press-kit.html. Located there are all the tools a venue or promoter would need to consider booking The Gabrielle Louise Show. Or, just give us a shout if you know of any acoustic/Americana friendly music venues near you! We'll give you a puppy! Ok, maybe not...
